Why You Should Never Ignore a Plumbing Issue?
We sometimes treat our house like we treat our bodies in that we ignore small issues because we don't want to know the whole truth, but the scary reality is that even a small issue like a leak could be hiding something that could cost you thousands in the years to come.
A simple leaking shower may not seem like a big issue right now but all that leaking water is going to somewhere right? Maybe it goes under your floor and rots away the wood underneath and you end up having to replace your floor.
Here are just SOME of the things that will happen if you leave your plumbing needs to the last minute.
Increased water bill
This one is obvious but because it's so important it gets the first spot in this list and for good reason.
You may think that a small leak is doing no harm but think about it, that tap, fossette, shower head or pipe is leaking water every second of every minute of every hour of every day and that adds up. Eventually, you'll get a massive water bill that you won't be able to comprehend and you'll wish you'd paid more attention to that small leak.
As if that hefty water bill wasn't enough the excess water in the walls or under the floor can cause some serious structural damage and may even make certain parts of your house unsafe, such as floorboards that have began to rot which have the potential to splinter and even break causing injury to you and your family.
One thing that homeowners want to avoid getting is mould because not only is it unsightly but it can affect those with asthma or poor raspatory systems such as the elderly and children. Mould just doesn't appear on bathroom floors and the corners of a shower, it can form inside walls where there is a leak and you wouldn't even know it.
This is a worst-case scenario but it has happened many times and has destroyed entire homes because of one small leak.
A burst pipe will cause an immense amount of water to flood your house causing thousands in damages and destroying any memories you had in your house. Yes, it is rare for this to happen but after years of neglect, a leaky pipe can be transformed into a burst pipe.
All these problems and more are completely preventable granted they're found and fixed as soon as possible so it's important to stay on top of it and keep track of any problems that come up in your home.
